LHA Announces Partnership with Louisville Tourism
The Louisville Hotel Association is proud to announce their partnership with Louisville Tourism as part of the homeless outreach initiative. This initiative is dedicated to providing homeless relief to the city of Louisville in the year of 2019. Thus far, the Louisville Hotel Association and Louisville Tourism have generously committed $10,000 each towards the initiative.|
“Whether you’re a visitor or a local, Louisville has a long-standing history of being a welcoming and inclusive city,” says Karen Williams, President & CEO of Louisville Tourism. “This initiative underscores our hospitality industry’s commitment to service.”
LHA’s homeless outreach is part of the organization’s new community involvement initiative. “We are in the business of providing our guests with a comfortable, clean, safe place to stay while in our city, yet there are more than 6,000 in our community who are living on the streets,” said David Greene, President of LHA and General Manager of the Louisville Marriott Downtown. “Our new initiative is designed to provide improved accommodations and necessities for the homeless in our compassionate community.”
With thousands of homeless residents across the city, it is increasingly evident that this concern must be addressed. The newly founded partnership between the Louisville Hotel Association and Louisville Tourism is only the beginning of a city-wide effort. David Greene explained, “It is our hope that the efforts we’re making will encourage the members of our community to support us and be inspired to take action towards this problem.”
Raising Funds to Support Our Mission
The Louisville Hotel Association has committed to providing $10,000 toward homeless relief efforts in the city in 2019 and $10,000 toward educational scholarships for those interested in a career in hospitality. Those are some lofty goals and we are working on several fundraisers this year. But here is one you can help us with…An online auction!
Our members donate items for the auction. If you are hotelier, it could be a weekend stay with dinner for two in your restaurant or breakfast for two. If you have a relationship with a local attraction like a distillery or KY Kingdom, you could add a couple of attraction tickets and create a great Louisville experience package that anyone in the country can bid on. Great exposure for you and an excellent auction item for LHA.
Not a hotelier? You can still donate. Gift certificates to choice Louisville restaurant, gift basket, tickets to a ball game or Churchill Downs…. all are great auction donations.
This link will take you to the online donation form. Complete the form, then send the donation to the LHA office. Our goal is to launch the auction on BiddingForGood, along with our re-designed website, in mid-April. The auction will run for approximately three weeks.
Help us meet our ambitious goals as we strive to make a difference in our community.

LHA's 2018 Spirit of Hospitality Award
For the fourth year, LHA has partnered with the Louisville Tourism to take part in the ROSE Awards. The ROSE Awards showcase excellence in the hospitality industry in our area. The winner in each ROSE Award category is eligible for this award, which carries with it a $1000 cash prize from LHA.
This year’s winner is Judd Gibbs, Guest Services Ambassador at the Omni Louisville. Here is a quote from one of several nominations that Judd received for the ROSE Awards: “I have seen him many times help his co-workers without so much as the blink of an eye. I asked him once why he was like that (because you don't see if very often anymore) and his response was, ‘if I help someone today, they may help someone else tomorrow, and the world becomes a better place.’ That is character gold.” Read the full statement here.
The Mission of the Louisville Hotel Association is to provide value to our membership by serving as a source of information on key industry issues and an advocate on public policy matters impacting the local hotel industry.
